St. Mary, Our Lady of the Lake held its first Mass in a small building on theCampground Church Bar K campgrounds on December 6, 1970 with ten families in attendance. The first Mass grew out of a request by National Resort Communities to have a priest hold services for those persons who were visiting the area with the view of buying lots. Groundbreaking for the church at the current location took place on February 11, 1981. Since then, the parish facilities have undergone 3 major expansion projects to meet the growing needs of the parish population. From humble beginnings of ten families, St. Mary, Our Lady of the Lake has grown to over 400 families and with God’s grace will continue to grow and serve the people of the North Shore area.

To further the Church’s commitment to the community, St. Mary raises funds for its parish ministries, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Women’s Guild and Knights of Columbus, with an annual Oktoberfest celebration. These ministries help the disadvantaged in our community, provide scholarships, finance youth activities and support seminarians in the Austin Diocese. Proceeds also go to the Lago Vista Volunteers, local emergency response teams, the Annunciation House, and support other needs in the North Shore community.
